How Dynamic DNS Works

The Dynamic DNS service allows you to register a personalized hostname that can be used by others to connect to your computer. Once you have a hostname for your computer, the uses are virtually unlimited. You can run a web, FTP, chat, mail or game server etc, all available to others via your permanent hostname.

Your Hostname Format

yourname.flexdns.net

"yourname" is your choice

Netservers uses a modified version of the GnuDIP2 Dynamic DNS server. You can use our service with any standard GnuDIP2 updater client or via any web browser.

Getting Started

Simple setup process to get your Dynamic DNS hostname active in under 1 minute

1. Sign Up

Complete the self registration to create your flexdns.net hostname.

2. Configure

Set up automatic updates using a client or browser-based updates.

3. Go Live

Your hostname will be live on the internet in under 1 minute after login.

Update Methods

Choose how you want to keep your IP address updated

Browser Auto-Update

Set your browser's home page to automatically update your IP address each time you browse. URL: http://www.flexdns.net/cgi-bin/gnudip2.cgi?action=getautourlinfo. Don't forget to set the Forward URL in settings to redirect to your favorite website.

Client Software

Download the appropriate client for your operating system and set it up following the included directions. GnuDIP server: ns1.cammail.net. All communication is encrypted. Linux MD5 modules included. Please don't update more than every 30 minutes.

Terms of Service

Constant unnecessary updates waste resources and might lead to hostname removal. Don't update more frequently than every 30 minutes.
Offensive Dynamic DNS hostnames will be removed.
Using Dynamic DNS hostnames for sending spam is not allowed. Hostnames referenced in spam complaints will be immediately terminated.
Netservers reserves the right to refuse or remove a hostname registration at any time.
This is a free service - Netservers staff are not available for every support issue that may arise.
